Assembling work originally published during the early 1990s in Doucet's one-woman anthology comic book series, Dirty Plotte (and slightly revised in the early 2000s for this, current edition), My New York Diary is a trailblazing graphic novel wherein a woman's artistic voice is linked to her personal independence, as Julie comes to the Big Apple to get a taste of the Bohemian life on offer. This work, together with that collected in My Most Secret Desire, had a tremendous influence, opening the door of comics to both new subject matter for exploration and new avenues of expression and so changed the comics landscape. And, it's a lot of fun!
