Margaret Sanger is a solid choice to introduce to the comics world. Not only did Sanger's early efforts to distribute (then illegal) birth control information and contraceptives employ some of the same channels as those used by early publishers in the then nascent comic book industry (as detailed in Men of Tomorrow), but comics readers as a group are likely to benefit from being educated about the life and accomplishments of this prime progenitor of the fight for reproductive rights who is arguably one of the most important figures of the early 20th century. Mr. Bagge did his homework and readers will come away with a solid schooling in all things Sanger, but equally importantly, Bagge's cartoon biography leverages the strengths of comics and his own cartoon language to provide Sanger with a personal presence on the page that is not possible in the standard historical biography.
