A super-charged follow-up to 2014's Silhouette Zine, BW is an 80-page, full-size (8 1/2" x 11") Sampler-Zine dedicated to rescuing comics obscurities from the implosion that followed the late-80s "Black & White Explosion". While not all of the work included here originated in the Black & White Explosion, most did. And, while there are images included here by recognizable artists, the majority of the work that populates these eighty pages are by artists forgotten to all but the dedicated few. Hyper-violent masculinist fantasies are the order of the day -- often, but not always, accompanied by the requisite scantily clad female -- but there is nevertheless quite a variety along with plenty of alternatives, many of which are "off-menu" in that they don't fit any of the then-prevailing categories. The art on display, while rendedered almost entirely in pen and ink as was then the norm, runs the gamut of styles from primitive to professional, with every stop inbetween. The amount of forgotten work produced during those years is immense, and this zine is but the tip of the iceberg. Anyone inspired by this collection should head to their local comic shop's quarter bin and start digging! Who knows what remains to be found... BW has been produced in a numbered edition of 300 copies, of which we have received only a limited allotment... so act now!
