October = Copacetic Events!

Posted on 30 September 22:09 (over 5 years ago)

There are quite a few events lined up for October at Copacetic – and then, on top of that, there's the Pittsburgh Zine Fair!

First up, on Monday, October 9, starting at 6pm, at Kaibur Cafe, downstairs from Copacetic: Come witness a live multimedia reading by Ezra Claytan Daniels (Upgrade Soul) and Ben Passmore (Your Black Friend, Dayglo Ayhole)!  Then, from 7 to 8pm (at least) join us and the rest of the Pittsburgh comics cognoscenti up at Copacetic HQ on the third floor for comics and conversation with the creators. And, yes, of course, their books can be bought – and signed – on the spot!

Next, a mere two days later, we welcome Matthew Thurber, as we celebrate the release of D & Q's deluxe hardcover collection of his hard-to-find, cult comics series, Art Comic.  And, this time around it's in full color!   So, please be sure to join us from 6:00 to 8:00pm on the evening of Wednesday, October 10. (And stay tuned for further details.)

Then, the following Sunday, October 14, it's the Pittsburgh Zine Fair, once again at the Union Project (801 N Negley Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206), from 2pm to 8pm. This event is free and open to the public!

The following Saturday, October 20, we will once again host the release for John Peña's annual collection of Daily Geology, from 7:00 to 9:00pm.  (Stay tuned for further details.)

And then we cap the month off with another SPOOKY PARTY!  Mark Saturday, October 27 on your calendar and prepare yourself for new comics by Nate McDonough, Bill Wehmann and more! Announcements pending...

On Saturday 22 September, from 7:00 to 9:00pm Copacetic HQ will be the place to be as we celebrate the release of the long awaited sixth issue of Free Money after over a year's hiatus, with its creator, Dan McCloskey!

Then we want to let people know that Georgia Webber, author of the graphic memoir Dumb, just released by Fantagraphics, will be leading a workshop titled, "Drawing the Inside Out: Writing Comics for Yourself" from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday 26 September at Protoype, in suite #208 at at 460 Melwood (across the street from Pittsburgh Filmmakers, not far from Copacetic)

Advance tickets are required, but that their cost is a donation of whatever amount you choose.  Tickets may be had HERE, but please note:  as of this writing only two spaces remain!

We'll be on site selling copies of Dumb, but they are already in the shop if any one is curious.
