Attention Connor Willumsen fans: we just got in a restock of this issue containing his mind-bending masterpiece, "My Grandma Was My Bounty": a one-of-a-kind tale with page 18 pages of (at times, literally) out-of-this-world art!
The first issue of Ex.Mag (of a projected three) is packed with great comics devoted to this issue's theme/genre: Cyberpunk. The stories on hand here approach cyberpunk from a wide diversity of perspectives, so expect the unexpected!
The collection opens with a great 29 page piece by Sophia Foster-Dimino – their first substantial new work we've come across in awhile. And it closes with Conor WIllumsen's 18 page "My Grandma Was My Bounty": a mind-bending, one-of-a-kind tale with page after page of (at times, literally) out-of-this-world art that is worth the price of admission all by itself – WOW! And then there's the over 120 pages of comics in between.
This 192 page softcover anthology comes in a great format and PEOW has put it all together in a nice package. Measuring 6 1/2" x 8 1/4" it presents a wider than usual canvas, with a width to height ratio slightly higher than the magazine format (think Love and Rockets). Printed in black, grey and green on a heavier weight, white newsprint, with a flexible cardstock cover, it's designed with the reader in mind. An amazing comics compendium.
We know there are some Copacetic customers rueing the fact that they missed this, but it turns out, that there was a hidden cache of copies and so now it is...
LIMIT: ONE per customer. GONE!
Here it is: the third, and final volume of Ex.Mag, from Sweden-based PEOW Studio. As with the first two volumes, this was edited by Wren McDonald under the aegis of PEOW, and they have assembled another great team of contributors. This time around we are treated to all new works by Linnea Sterte, Al Gofa, Delfina Pérez Adán, Tarmasz, Geov Chouteau, Hanna K, Valentin Seiche, Jake Terrell, and PEOW Publisher, Patrick Crotty! Again, as with the first two volumes, the work and production are both excellent. 188 duo-tone (red and brown; in various intensities) pages.
Here's the middle volume of the the three volume series from PEOW – Ex.Mag! This time around the theme is paranormal romance, and once again showcases the work of some outstanding comics makers, including: Choo • Loïc Locatelli • Jane Mai, Yon Lee, Natasha Allegri, Leslie Hung, Mikkel Sommer, Michelle Kwon and Luis Yang.
You can check out some sample pages on PEOW's own page for this item, HERE.
... GONE!
We had thought that Ex.Mag #3 was the end of the series... but we thought wrong! Ex.Mag #4 has arrived on our doorstep, and it's a doozy! Keeping with its theme of MECHA, this issue is GIANT-SIZE – running a full 300 pages. Printed (in Europe) solely in a duotone palette of blue and red, on high quality, heavy, cream-colored newsprint, it also features a (not shown) glossy wraparound dustjacket and fold-out, full color poster, making for an overall package that is an æsthetic delight. And that's before we even get to the comics themselves! Page after page of beautifully drawn and action packed comics await.
Featuring comics from: Aseyn, Ayako Ozaki, Beto Irigoyen, Casey Nowak, Emil Friis Ernst, Inkee Wang, Luca Negri, Sebastien Sunstrum, Simon Roy & Tatsumi
Cover and Poster illustrations by: Mony Pich, Fu Yukuda, Jan Buragay, Mathilde Kitteh & Huahua Zhu
