Santoro returns to the newspaper format he used to shake up the comics world in 1995 with his vastly influential newspaper comic, Storeyville. Santoro has spent most of the 21st century painting, but has been lured back to comics by a conspiracy of circumstance to produce this unique tri-tone newspaper edition. Anyone interested in seeing comics put to new uses will want to take a look at this piece. With Chimera, we have a work that is striving to achieve a poetics of comics. Drawing on the insights into the symbolic quality of images that he has gained through his years spent concentrating on the practice and study of painting, Santoro has created an evocative convergence of classical and contemporary mythologies that expresses the eternal unchanging nature of the relationship between the heart's true desire and the reality of the world in which one must work to realize it. Don't miss it! PLEASE NOTE: We have now sold out of our original stock of uncirculated copies. The copies currently for sale here are from a small handful that we located at another shop. These are slightly worse for wear, with pages just beginning to yellow and a few light abrasions along the front cover crease. While we hesitate to employ comics grading terminology here, we feel comfortable in describing these copies as being in Fine or better condition. Regardless, once these are gone, that's it!
