PGH Zine Fair this Sunday, OCT 4!
Posted on 28 September 13:09 (about 9 years ago)
The Fifth Annual Pittsburgh Zine Fair (PZF) returns to the Union Project (801 N Negley Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206) on Sunday, October 4 from 2-8pm. This event is free and open to the public!
__________________________
Since its debut at AIR: Artists Image Resource in 2011, the PZF has attracted a diverse group of artists, writers and activists from across the region whose content may vary but the format remains the same- the zine. An icon of DIY ethos and radical info sharing, the zine decentralizes media and vaults individual expression while remaining inexpensive.
COPACETIC will be there!
(and so the shop will be closed on Sunday, as we will be at the Fair)

Selfish Mag "Just One More" Tour @ Copacetic Saturday 12 September
Posted on 04 September 17:09 (about 9 years ago)
Please join us in welcoming the Selfish Magazine “Just One More” Tour, which, in the person of founder and editor-in-chief, Taylor Yates -- along with potential TBA guest(s) – will be stopping in for a presentation at Lili Cafe from 7 to 8pm, followed by a reception and sales at Copacetic from 8 to 9pm.
Selfish is a biannual, mostly memoir magazine that encourages women to share true stories through unabashedly creative means. Contents include essays, poetry, photo series, comics, illustrations, video stills and more. Issue two, “Just One More,” explores the ways in which we grapple with the countless moments that chip away at our innocence, the fluidity of identity, and the sweet futility of resisting change. Featuring the work of 30 contributors, “Just One More” takes readers through experiences of bewilderment, expansion, self-discovery, and more.
A publication that celebrates the female story, Selfish was created as a means to tackle the continuing lack of female presence in publishing as well as encourage women to engage in creative truth-telling. Issue one featured the work of 18 contributors in the form of poems, essays, and photos.
Alongside a reading from and discussion of the project, we will be encouraging female attendees to bring out their own work with the intention of publishing pieces collected on the road in our third issue, to debut next January. So, if this sounds like you, bring your work in to share!
