"The best moon of the year" after a tough week at the drawing boards in Buenos Aires leads to a night out with friends in this new 24 page mini by Powerpaola. An oblique look at a contemporary Argentinian nexus of freinship, culture and politics that is a prologue to...?
"Aseries of strange events on a full moon in Buenos Aires. After that night everything changed."
In the pages of All My Bicycles Powerpaola takes a post-punk-Proustian ride down memory lane via a series of bicycles, each evoking the particular period that it was owned and ridden: people, places, events – both mundane and dramatic – all are revisited as the reader is transported by Powerpaola’s lush and evocative artwork to remembrances of bike rides past in this nicely produced, 108 page, 7" x 9” French-flapped flexi-cover volume printed in black and white with red and yellow spot colors.
"One of the great works of Colombian literature (and not just comics)." — El Tiempo
Translated fro the Spanish by Andrea Rosenberg
La Poderosa #1: Come WIth Me is a 36-page, floppy, saddle-stitched comic book, brilliantly printed in a two-color pantone of vivid purple and fluorescent orange. It details the author's international travails as she jets from Buenos Aires to Amsterdam, en route to Berlin, where she is engaged as a professor, but encounters obstacles at the borders which must be navigated. A modern day travelogue that has gained signifigance since its creation as numerous new barriers to travel have sprung up here in the USA.
Most exciting is that this is being trumpeted as the first issue in an ongoing series!
