A sharply drawn pen & ink fable from the celebrated Spanish cartoonist, Max (the pen name of Francesc Capdevila Gisbert), Vapor is sure to please* comics æsthetes the world over.
Vapor harkens back to the early days of Sunday page comics strips – including, notably, Krazy Kat – and also Moebius's 40 Days dans le Desert B (which is itself, somewhat of a mediation on Krazy Kat) – while simultaneously looking forward to expand the boundries of the graphic novel to forge a comics metaphysics of existentialism. In other words, with Vapor, you can have your cake and eat it too: it's an entertaining and æsthetically pleasing reading experience at the same time as it is an intellectually challenging work that makes the reader think!
