My Favorite Thing Is Monsters is an engrossing read that is expertly rendered in 386 pages entirely(?) drawn in ballpoint pen(!).  Synthesising the works of Lynda Barry, Jim Rugg, Art Spiegelman, Phoebe Gloeckner, Dash Shaw and Spain Rodriguez and mashing it all together with a spot-on 1960s monster mag æsthetic, Emil Ferris has forged a one-of-a-kind work.
