This 4CD box set does not pretend to shed new light on the recorded legacy of Charlie Parker, an enormous amount of live material by Parker has been unearthed since his death in 1955 and has been released on numerous obscure and major labels alike. Every scrap of Charlie Parker's work is rightly considered to be of importance, but the aim of this box set is to introduce new listeners to a near-complete selection of his magnificent studio recordings for the Dial, Savoy and Verve labels and to remind his old fans of the enormous scope of his achievements, via these 101 originally released studio performances.
